L'histoire de la TGAD

An exhibition presenting the "e" floor (anarchy) became inevitable to the gallery Art : Concept still in Nice at the time and now installed in Paris. October 24, 1998, the GDA exhibits its "Defenses and Secrets".
Going back to the time of its origin "Long live wild democracy" took place from september 28 to november 11 1995.

"E" floor (anarchy) furnitures for the GDA
The furniture design is inspired by the chinese game called TANGRAM.

Here the disposition resembles a sleeping cat (open). The drawers,
functioning on sliding systems as the one used in a kitchen, contains the collections of anarchic situations. There are potentially 5 games of 7 elements each that is to say 50 collections of anarchic situations. The first collection is the one of the round about.
Within this set if 7 elements, there are :

1 - "The other great stadium" resulting from a thought process about conceiving a construction based on principles radically opposite with the ones developed in the VGDA, in other words constructing a conflictual building as opposed to a place of consensus such as the VGDA.

2 - "The bunker" : is the materialization of a knot within the communication network. The network proposes a universe and the world watches an image of the universe.

3 - "Vegetable gardens in the middle of a motorway section". Free interpretation of an interchange on the circular road of the city of Lyon.

4 - "The artist's house on the top of a volcano" : inspired by a Phenix house (faut-il expliquer ce qu'est une maison Phénix : une maison sur plan, dont la construction est standardisée ?). which was a residence for artists invited by the Contemporary Art Centre of Saint Léger departmental park of Pougues-les-Eaux.

5 - "The suburbs in the heart of a city" : 2 blocks of lodgings, one vertical (standing) and another lying on the floor are quoting Luc Deleu's project.

6 - "The do-it-yourself round about". Adaptation of a distribution tray of locomotives in front of a semi circular shed for the motorway.

7 - "The meta round about" : (original creation).All these mock-ups are realizd with various materials. The work is the acquisition of the Contemporary Art Regional Funds of Languedoc Roussillon.

A second series was born in 1997. It has been exhibited in the Wales in the Oriel Art Gallery in New Town. Last summer, it has been presented to the french public at the Sète Contemporary Art Regional Centre.
This collection is intitled : "Balck joys". It is a prototype of a piece of furniture based on the chinese game called TANGRAM which consists in playing with a set of one square, five triangles and a diamond shape. Within each piece of furniture, mock-ups are built and set up on drawers which the public can pull to its appreciation. Altogether, these mock-ups form a collection of situations representing the contemporary urban life.

In the series # 2, there is a collection of black images that can also be defined according to the dominant model as the happyness.
