These developments should push the VGDA futher out of the imagination and into reality.
January 28th 1994, a model twenty meters long by twelve meters wide is set up in the two exposition halls and outside in the court of the Atheneum Cultural Center on the campus of the University Burgundy, in Dijon. All the materials used for its construction and decoration were furnished by the community of Emmaüs de Norges-la-Ville. The installation was executed by the association d'insertion pour l'emploi Déclic and la publication offered by the communications service of the University of Burgundy. |

View on the interior of the Atheneum court. A structure made up of palettes, traces the surface of half of thefloor R.
The palettes are covered with tiles beginning from the center, from where emerges a wooden structure, which creates in three dimensions the walls of floor R "Rationality and Retrieval". The pure form stretches into the interior of the Atheneum exposition halls. |

The structure proposed at the interior of the exposition halls is decorated to look like an office. This look proposes a rational logic, compared to the presumed funtion of this floor, that is caracterised by the organisation and redistribution of the ideas produced by the VGDA.
Here we find ourselves in the "yellow wall-paper space". Document-ideas are redistributed in small purple, blue and green cartons that will be sorted and archived in areas covered with papers of colors corresponding to different functions.

Here we find ourselves in the "green wall-paper space": first stage of sorting all paper documents, which are then redistributed in small purple, blue and green cartons that will be sorted and archived in areas covered with papers of colors corresponding to different functions (especially in the neighboring yellow and blue sections.
At the back we can see the end of the document sorting chain. A pile of cut papers, awaits to be recycled outside of the VGDA. (For more in-depth information and pictures on the floor R see the publication: "Spécial Infos" of the University of Burgundy, january 1994.). |
