Redfoot & Copperwater

The video, called Redfoot & Copperwater and shot in southern Spain, shows a character in red sportswear in a hostile environment. He takes the old Rio Tinto mining train that runs along the valley of this red, copper-laden watercourse. Extremely acidic, the Rio Tinto is a river where life is almost impossible and only a few bacteria can develop.
At the end of the railway line, the athlete steps onto the reservoir and dives into the "naturally polluted" pool. And, as Xavier Julien writes,
"the physical involvement of the artist, the freedom of the gesture and its transgressive power, in the middle of this ochre-red landscape, blurs the boundaries between documentary and performance".
